Home Home Home
This morning when we started packing in the hotel my son said excitedly, "Home home home!" This is a reference to Beetlejuice. There's a scene where the Maitland's dig up the ghost with the most in the "model", and after he disappoints, Barbara yells, "Home home home!" in order to go back home. As a kid, I watched Beetlejuice like most little girls watched Cinderella. My dad would also notice when it was on a cable station Saturday mornings, NOT wake me up and turn the movie on in my bedroom. The result was my dreaming of it, or dreaming I was IN the movie myself several times. This movie is etched into my past in a big way. A few months ago I let my son watch it. He is four. Now, I saw it for the first time at the age of 2, and I remember watching it again as a teen and realizing they cursed and there were some inappropriate parts. Knowing this, I feel no reason to keep my son from watching it while he's young. He's not going to understand the "bad" parts, and they aren't that bad at all, really. He LOVED IT! It made me smile. He has seen it about a half dozen times. All at his request. He also references it at funny times. He was helping his dad in his Nana's garden once and said that they were, "digging up Beetlejuice." Haha! He also points out striped things and tells me it's Beetlejuice.
I love it, he's my boy!
here's the Home Home Home scene. 3 minutes 40 second mark.
